II. Hertelendy Family Gathering

Dear Family Members and Relatives,
As previously indicated, preparations for our second Hertelendy Family Gathering are well underway. I would like to share the detailed program with you so that you can plan your attendance accordingly.
Just like two years ago, our ancestral home, Vindornyalak, will host the event. The gathering will commence at 10:00 AM and the programs are expected to conclude around 5:00 PM.
Detailed Program
10:00 AM – 10:30 AM | Arrival and Welcome Reception
Location: Manor Courtyard / Terrace (Outdoor)
Registration, pickup of name badges, coffee, traditional Hungarian scones (pogácsa), and mineral water.
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM | Solemn Opening Ceremony
Location: Manor Courtyard / Terrace (Outdoor)
Official opening of the gathering, a brief overview of the family tree, and the solemn unveiling of the family coat of arms.
11:00 AM – 12:15 PM | Historical Lecture and Family Recollections
Location: Manor Hall (Indoor)
Keynote Presentation: The life and work of Margit Hertelendy, including her significant role in establishing the Zsigmond Széchenyi Hungarian Hunting Museum. (Presented by Eszter Birck Hopkins, or in case of her absence, Tamás Gyorgyevics)
Personal Remembrance: Gábor Gerlóczy shares his personal memories of his mother and the family.
Open discussion, questions, and spontaneous family storytelling.
12:15 PM – 1:45 PM | Shared Lunch and Family Picnic
Location: Manor Courtyard / Terrace (Outdoor)
Enjoying hot meals ordered in advance (prepared by the Turul Restaurant of Zalaszántó).
Picnic: Everyone is welcome to bring their own picnic baskets to share favorite wines, drinks, or homemade cakes with the family.
1:45 PM – 3:15 PM | Interactive Family Tree & Photo Corner
Location: Manor Terrace / Indoor Hall
Exploring the family tree and sharing stories.
Photo Corner: Please bring your old family photos, letters, or historical objects! We will provide on-site digital scanning and saving options for your old photographs.
3:15 PM – 4:30 PM | Guided Cemetery Visit in Vindornyalak
Location: Vindornyalak Local Cemetery (Outdoor)
A short walk or a 1-minute drive to the local cemetery. Visiting the historical Hertelendy graves, laying wreaths, and quiet remembrance.
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM | Group Photo and Closing Remarks
Location: Manor Courtyard (Outdoor)
Taking a joint group photograph and final farewells.
Practical Information & Preparation
What to bring? Good spirits, old family photographs/documents for the Photo Corner, and feel free to prepare a picnic basket with wine, drinks, or your favorite family desserts to share!
Indoor or Outdoor? The presentations and the opening ceremony will take place inside the manor house, while the lunch, picnic, photo corner, and informal chats will be held outdoors in the courtyard and terrace (weather permitting).
Costs and Catering: The registration fee is 2,200 HUF per person, which covers the rental of the manor house, organizational/technical costs, and basic refreshments throughout the day (scones, mineral water, coffee, and tea).
Registration: Due to the limited capacity of the venue (approx. 80-90 people), attendance is strictly subject to prior registration. We kindly ask that each participant register individually. A Google account is not required.
