Information regarding the organization of the 2nd Hertelendy Family Gathering – August 21, 2026
Dear Family Members and Relatives,
As previously indicated, preparations for our second Hertelendy Family Gathering are well underway. I would like to share the details with you so that you can plan your attendance accordingly.
Just like two years ago, our ancestral home, Vindornyalak, will host the event, where we can together honor our family's more than 628-year-old written history.
The gathering will commence at 10:00 AM and the programs are expected to conclude around 5:00 PM.
Highlights of the Program:
Lecture by Eszter Birck Hopkins: She will share the life and work of her mother, Margit Hertelendy, including her significant role in establishing the Zsigmond Széchenyi Hungarian Hunting Museum of the Carpathian Basin.
Presentation by the Göcsej Museum (Zalaegerszeg): A representative will introduce one of the museum's most valuable units: the Hertelendy Collection, preserved in their archives.
Costs and Catering: The registration fee is 2,200 HUF per person. This amount covers the rental of the manor house, organizational and technical costs, and basic refreshments throughout the day (scones, mineral water, and coffee).
Since catering prices have risen significantly over the past two years, you are welcome to bring your own picnic baskets. Additionally, there is an option to order hot meals for yourself or your family, provided by the Turul Restaurant from Zalaszántó. The available menu options and exact prices are listed on the registration form.
Transparency: I believe it is important for the organization to be transparent. Therefore, I have included a budget proposal for this year's gathering. By clicking the button below, you can view the planned expenditures for this year, as well as the financial report from our meeting two years ago.
Registration: You can register by clicking the "Register" button. I kindly ask that each participant register individually. Due to the capacity of the venue (approx. 80-90 people), we can only guarantee seating for registered guests. A Gmail account is not required to fill out the form.
